Online nutrition counseling in Estonia, in English

Video consultations, a short intake, and a written plan built around what you actually cook and buy. Sessions suit expats in Tallinn and Tartu as well as Estonian clients who prefer to talk about food in English.

This is not a medical service. It does not diagnose, prescribe, or replace your doctor.

Who books here, and why

Most people arrive with one of four goals: losing weight without losing energy, calming digestive complaints, building a menu around a full-time job, or getting structured eating back after a stretch of skipped meals.

A smaller group comes with a diagnosis already in hand and wants help turning it into daily food choices. If you are unsure whether you need a nutritionist, a nutritional therapist, or a dietitian, the first call is a reasonable place to sort that out. We will tell you if your case belongs with a clinical dietitian or your family doctor instead.

Four reasons people write in

  • Losing weight without losing energy. Slower structure, real portions, and no crash weeks that wreck your workdays.

  • Digestive complaints. Finding which foods sit well with you and in what combinations, meal by meal.

  • A menu for a full-time job. Lunches you can pack, snacks that hold, and dinners that survive a late commute.

  • Getting back on track. After a stretch of skipping meals and eating whatever was closest at nine in the evening.

How the online format works in practice

You book a slot, get a link, and join from home, office, or a quiet room in a coworking space. No travel to a clinic, no waiting room.

1

Book a slot

Send the booking form with a preferred day and time. You get a reply with the video link and what to prepare.

2

Talk it through

A food diary, your medical history as you describe it, medications, sleep, movement, and what has and has not worked before.

3

Get the plan

Notes and a personalized meal plan by email, usually within a couple of working days, with portions and swap options.

4

Adjust together

Follow-ups run the same way, so a progress check fits into a lunch break. The plan changes as your week does.

The one thing the online format asks of you is a stable connection and a place where you can talk freely about your eating habits. Everything is handled in English, and documents are written in English as well.

The week you already logged

You will be asked to keep a short food diary beforehand. From that, we agree on two or three changes worth making first, rather than rewriting your entire diet at once.

What a first consultation covers

The initial consultation is a conversation, not a lecture. We go through your typical day of eating, your medical history as you describe it, medications you are on, sleep, and movement. You leave with a written personalized meal plan with portions and swap options, plus a follow-up date.

Bring to the first call

A food diary covering a few normal days, a list of any medications or supplements, and any recent blood test results you are willing to share. No preparation of meals is needed.

A sample week of logged meals

Mon Oats, office lunch, late pasta logged
Tue Toast only, skipped lunch, soup at nine logged
Wed Rye bread breakfast, canteen plate, fruit logged
Thu Two coffees, no breakfast, big dinner logged
Fri Yogurt and berries, salad bar, fish at home logged
Sat Late brunch, dinner out with friends reviewed

The diary is not a test. It shows the real pattern, including the days that went sideways, and that is exactly what the plan has to survive.

Meal plans that survive a real week

A plan is only useful if it works on a Tuesday when you get home at eight. Menus here are built around what you actually cook, what is in season in Estonia, and what your budget allows.

Plans include alternatives for eating out, for travel, and for the weeks when cooking is not going to happen. If you have a food intolerance or a diagnosed condition, the plan is written around it rather than around a template. You keep the plan; it is yours to reuse and adapt.

Nutrition counseling beyond weight loss

Weight management is a common reason to book, but it is not the only one. Sessions also help with the practical side of a diagnosis you already have, for instance turning a doctor's advice into a shopping list and a weekly menu.

What people come in for

Digestive discomfort, low energy, iron and vitamin D questions, cholesterol-friendly eating, eating around shift work, and pre-conception nutrition. Some want a balanced menu for the whole family rather than a diet for one person.

Therapy or everyday counseling?

Nutritional therapy tends to mean structured, multi-session work aimed at a specific health concern, with adjustments between visits. Everyday counseling is lighter: fewer sessions, more focus on habits and menu building.

Both are offered here. The choice usually comes down to whether you have one clear problem or a general sense that your eating needs a reset. Reach out and we will suggest a starting point.

Checking credentials before you book

Estonia has several professional groupings for nutrition specialists and no single public register that covers every kind of practitioner. Ask the same questions of anyone you consider, including us.

  1. A

    Ask what training they hold

Which school, which certification, and how long the course ran. A short weekend course and a multi-year program are not the same thing.

  2. B

    Ask what they cannot treat

A clear scope is a good sign. Anyone claiming to handle every condition without a medical referral deserves caution.

  3. C

    Check medical qualifications

Digilugu, the national health record system, is where people check medical qualifications. Professional bodies such as the Estonian Association of Nutrition Consultants and Therapists are another signal.

  4. D

Ask whether they work alongside doctors

We answer those questions in writing if you ask, and we refer out when a case belongs with a clinical dietitian or your family doctor.

Working with clients outside Tallinn and Tartu

The practice is fully remote, so clients join from Narva, Pärnu, Kuressaare, or from abroad while working in Estonia. Time zones are usually easy, but if you are on a different schedule, mention it when booking and we will find a slot.

Everything is handled in English, and documents are written in English as well. If you need an Estonian-language summary of the plan for a family member, say so in advance.

What happens after the first session

You leave with a plan, a short list of what to track, and a date for the follow-up. Most people need two to four sessions to get to a point where they can run the plan themselves.

There is no fixed package you have to buy up front. If after the first consultation you feel this is not the right fit, you say so and we stop there.

Starting points for beginners

If you have never worked with a nutritionist, start with one initial consultation and a food diary. Do not overhaul your kitchen beforehand. Do not buy supplements on someone else's recommendation. Bring your questions, including skeptical ones about whether any of this is worth the money for you.

A realistic look at timelines

Sessions are spaced to match the pace of change, so you are not paying for weekly calls when monthly ones would do.

Digestive complaints
Often settle within a few weeks of consistent changes — different meals, different timing, fewer guesswork swaps.
Weight and body composition
Move more slowly. The sensible planning horizon is months, not days, and the plan should reflect that.
Blood markers
Change on their own schedule and should be re-checked with your doctor, not with us.
Long-term value
Clients typically come back once or twice a year for a reset, or when life changes: a new job, a move, a diagnosis, a pregnancy. The plan from a year ago is still yours and can be adjusted rather than rebuilt.

What this service is not

This is not a medical service and does not provide diagnoses, prescriptions, or treatment for disease. It is not a diet that promises a specific number of kilograms by a specific date — anyone offering that should be treated with caution. If your situation needs a physician, a clinical dietitian, or another specialist, the honest answer is that you should see them, and you will get that answer here.

Questions people ask before booking

Read the FAQ
How do I know whether I need a nutritionist, a nutritional therapist, or a dietitian?

If you have a diagnosed medical condition, a clinical dietitian or your doctor is the right first stop. For eating habits, menu building, and structured lifestyle work, a nutritionist or nutritional therapist is usually enough. The first call is a fine place to figure out which one you need.

Can I get a consultation in English from Estonia?

Yes. All consultations, notes, and plans are in English. Sessions are held online, so location inside Estonia does not matter.

What should I prepare before the first appointment?

A food diary covering a few normal days, a list of any medications or supplements, and any recent blood test results you are willing to share. No preparation of meals is needed.

How do I check whether a nutrition specialist is qualified in Estonia?

Look at the practitioner's stated training, ask what they are and are not qualified to treat, and check medical qualifications through Digilugu where relevant. Professional bodies such as the Estonian Association of Nutrition Consultants and Therapists are another signal.

Is there a plan for children or the whole family?

Family meal planning is available. Counseling for children should involve the child's own doctor, and we work around whatever guidance you already have.

Long-term value, not quick fixes

The point of this work is that it holds up after the sessions end. Clients typically come back once or twice a year for a reset, or when life changes: a new job, a move, a diagnosis, a pregnancy. The plan from a year ago is still yours and can be adjusted rather than rebuilt. That is a different value proposition from a diet you follow for six weeks and then abandon.

Ready when you are

One conversation is enough to know whether this is the right place for you. If it is not, we will point you somewhere better.
